5th – 7th November, 2015 at Sai Priya Resorts, Visakhapatnam
EGREE Foundation is establishing the first Comprehensive “KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM”, focusing on the need for balancing economic and ecological considerations of sensitive coastal and marine ecosystem. One of the important activities under the Knowledge Management System is to coordinate with all Research/ Private/ Public/ NGOs institution for documenting/compiling all research findings and to maintain a database and sharing with all concerned. With this background, EGREE Foundation is organizing a “National Level Research Meet Workshop” at Vishakapattanam from 5th to 7th November, 2015 to bring under one umbrella of all the research and academic institutions, universities, production sector institutions, independent researchers and NGOs who have done or doing research studies in the EGREE Region. This will help for manages or Biodiversity Governance and decision making.
Scope of the National Research Meet: The first and foremost for establishing the Knowledge Management System, the EGREE Foundation acts as a common platform to coordinate all research and monitoring activities in the EGREE Region. Many research works are being conducted in EGREE Region by various national and state level research institutions, universities, colleges, NGOs and individuals.
This national level workshop is conducted with the following objectives:
❆ To bring all the research and academic institutions (both local and national), Universities, production sectors, independent researchers and Non-governmental organizations who have done or doing research studies in the EGREE Region under one umbrella.
❆ To work in collaboration and cooperation with leading local, regional & national level specialists/ experts.
❆ To avoid the duplication in the research studies
❆ To undertake a wide range of collaborative research projects on coastal and marine biodiversity, issues, threats, management etc.,
❆ To disseminate ideas and shared learning through publications, reports, workshops and events under coordinated “Knowledge Management System (KMS)”.
❆ Fostering new ways of working more effectively with researchers, managers and policymakers for better management of Ecosystem.
❆ To share the ideas about the best practices in major production sectors in the EGREE Region. Inventory of funding sources, mechanism and modus operandi to strenghthen the cross institutional research activities.
❆ To identify and bring out repositories of the experts knowledge and institutes for imparting training to various sectors (conservation, production and livelihood sectors) PDF
Call for Paper: As this is a specialized workshop to deliberate and discuss the issues related to coastal and marine biodiversity conservation into production sectors in the EGREE Region, technical papers and case studies are invited on various issues and thrust areas for discussion and publications as follows:
1. Spatial Planning of EGREE Region using Remote Sensing & GIS
2. Biological Inventory in EGREE Region
3. Impacts of Production Sectors in EGREE Region and Technology Interventions (Best Practices)
4. Socio-Economic Characteristics and Management Interventions required for EGREE Region
5. Policy Level Interventions for Sustainable Natural Resource Management (SNRM) and mainstreaming of production/industrial activities in EGREE Region
6. Payment of Ecosystem Services
7. Climate Change impact Studies:
a. Coastal and Marine resources of coastal region b. Socio Economic studies c. Business and industrial activities
8. Disaster Management and Climate Change adaptations.
